Nizamia High School (NHS) welcomed students from Sekolah Menengah Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (SMYSHHB) in Brunei Darussalam for a ten-day immersion program. The visit aimed to strengthen educational and cultural ties between Indonesia and Brunei while also promoting cross-cultural understanding and global awareness among students.

The visit began with a warm Afternoon Tea session at the NHS Auditorium, in which SMYSHHB students and teachers met their eight NHS host families. Each SMYSHHB student was hosted by an NHS student's family, allowing them to experience Indonesian family life. All SMYSHHB students participated in the NHS’s academic and cultural life by joining classes and exploring the school’s special programs, such as the Fashion Class and Barista Class, where creative design and hands-on coffee-making skills met.

To dive deep into Indonesia’s heritage while improving teamwork, SMYSSHB and NHS’s students engaged in an Amazing Race at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). They were exposed to various challenges to accomplish a cultural mission. Before heading back to Brunei, SMYHSSB students traveled to Bandung for a memorable trip to discover local culture and cuisine alongside their NHS host buddies.

This immersion program brought value to both schools. It enhances international connections and global learning visions for NHS students and offers direct, unique experiences of Indonesia’s diversity and educational values for SMYHSSB students. More than just a visit, this program is proof that true friendship and learning go beyond borders.
